Visiting Ancient Amathounta

Archaeological sites are dotted throughout Cyprus making the island a treasure for history enthusiasts. On the way back from the beach on our first evening, we passed the Amathounta archaeological site and decided to stop. Unfortunately the main area was closed so we couldn’t get any info on this ancient city. That didn’t stop the ever-adventurous Verse, as he encouraged me to hike up a nearby trail where we discovered a network of tracks that showcased amazing views and other intriguing ruins that were also a part of the site.  Here a few pictures from our visit.

    Did you ever get the information about the site? I suppose some of it is online? do you know what these rocks and the bowl-like features were depicting? - Thanks for showing and sharing - M

    No unfortunately I have not gotten any info on this place. I looked online and in a few books and none of them say anything other than where it is. I dont know what the bowl-like piece was but i know it was hollow inside. Thanks for reading and commenting! :)

The wide trail to the beach was sandwiched between a dense mix of vegetation that included what looked like mangrove and an array of beautiful local flowers. Amsterdam wrap up

We had such a wonderful time in Amsterdam. To everyone who made our stay so delightful, a great big hug and many thank you’s! Special shout out to “P” for accommodating us in your wonderful flat! Staying there was so convenient and gave us an insight as to what it would be like to live in your lovely city. I also want to big up Verse iTal for all the great performances that kept the people jamming at every show! Keep going strong on your musical journey! The Heineken Experience

This was the first museum we visited, although the description says it’s technically not a museum but an ‘experience’. After a quick tram ride from our flat it was a lovely short stroll to the old Heineken brewery (which was easy to find, as there is no way you can miss the huge Heineken sign). The line to buy the tickets was pretty long but it moved swiftly. The cost to enter was €17 for adults but with a coupon found in a tourist attraction book we paid €15 for one ticket (yay for discounts). Along with your tickets you are given a green Heineken band that allows you to get two free drinks after the self-guided tour.  Slipping the band on our hands we had no idea what to expect and we were excited to get started on the experience!
